The Always War by Margaret Peterson Haddix
4.0

The latest Margaret Peterson Haddix is interesting. When Tessa goes to an assembly to honor her neighbor Gideon, a war hero, he declines the medal. The country has been at war for 75 years. There is a very intense propaganda machine. All resources are devoted to fighting the war. The characters were not as developed as I expect from Haddix, but I was reading a prepub. She does borrow parts of the book from 1984 and Ender's Game . Good book to read as part of a curriculum to think about war, military propaganda, and our militaristic mindset.

Despite the subject matter this is a clean read.

Eprepub provided by the publisher.
