On the Line

5/5🌶️, MF, CR, NA, rich girl-bad boy, server and line cook, some kink (somno and degradation), KU TW for SA
As a fan of the shows Shameless and The Bear, this book was like a perfect amalgamation of both if Jeremy Allen White’s character from the Bear was inserted into Shameless. I enjoyed the good, rich girl and poor bad boy aspects of this book, as well as the food references and the time working in a restaurant. I appreciated that there wasn’t a third act breakup, and even though there was a bit of repressing of feelings and not talking through things, when it came down to it, the couple did choose communication and not walking away or sabotaging the relationship. There were a couple of plot lines I wish were developed more or dropped as I don’t think they added much to the story, but they didn’t distract from the overall vibes. The sex scenes were also surprising, in a great way. There was a bit of everything - including a female lead scene I did not expect. I really like when authors flip the sexual script and have the FMC ask the MMC to “strip”, “get on your knees”, and generally take charge. All in all, I had a pretty good time reading this book (even if that female lead scene probably accounted for at least a quarter star!).
