A very heavy romance. Shane and Eva trauma bond over a week long binge when they’re teenagers. Because the week ended abruptly and without closure, the connection is still there. They reconnect in their 30s as sober, successful authors who have done a lot of work on themselves to overcome their respective traumas.

I wish their bond had a little more development when they were adults that was more than just an insatiable feeling they have towards one another. Regardless, I still loved them as a couple. Maybe a little codependent but we all deal with trauma the best we can. I also loved both characters individually, and I enjoyed Eva’s daughter, Audre (though I feel like she behaved like an adult in an unrealistic way for a 12 year old).

I also loved that Eva was an erotica author! It’s a valid genre and deserves respect.

This book had a handful of pop culture references. Not a whole lot, but I can’t stand any in books.
