"What is a game?" Marx said. "It's tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow. It's the possibility of infinite rebirth, infinite redemption. The idea that if you keep playing, you could win. No loss is permanent, because nothing is permanent, ever.”
As somebody who has lived and loved through video games for 3/4 of my existence, this book was bread and water and oxygen—absolute vitality. Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow managed to put into words the visceral magic of gaming...and it displayed the importance behind living a life with that core mindset: that play is art. Gaming is creativity, and creativity is intimacy, and intimacy is human. I give my forever thanks to Gabrielle Zevin for painting the picture (or pixels) of this overwhelming truth.
