Foul Heart Huntsman
by Chloe Gong
With These Violent Delights being one of my favorites, and Foul Lady Fortune's intriguing plotlines, the anticipation for this release was high. And regardless of centering a full duology on one of my least favorite characters in the series, this one really pulled through. With an astonishingly complex plot, perfectly placed twists that made me stop in my tracks, and interactions that had me grinning as well as kicking my feet, there's truly no place I felt this novel did wrong. I adore Alisa to bits, and Phoebe and Silas' storyline and dynamics were absolutely within my favorites. I've gotten to a point where I feel okay with Rosalind - I'm still not her #1 fan, because I do still feel as though she lacks a certain lightness to her character, but there were enough moments that made me smile with people she was comfortable with that I could at least root for her. Celia was lovely as always, and both Orion and Oliver were very entertaining! I don't know what it is, but Chloe Gong just gets me. Every moment is not only effectively executed, but done so in the right places. I truly just enjoy her writing, and this was enough of a hit for me that I will almost certainly read more of her work in the future.
