To break down my rating, the first half of this book was two stars and the second half was four stars. It took a good while to hook me, despite its interesting macabre premise — and I feel like I should have found it more engrossing, and I can't pinpoint anything specific reason why I didn't — but once it did get going, the payoff in the third act made it worthwhile.
