I think you all know that I haven't really been enjoying ZA, seeing as my bestie and I are reading this universe in the suggested order, I was quite nervous to start this series. BUT I WAS SO WRONG. I am absolutely obsessed with this world, these boys, Elise!! Dark Fae takes place at Aurora Academy, the other Fae academy mentioned in ZA, 4 years before Tory and Darcy are brought back to Solaria. I love that so much of the world feels exactly the same and yet, the story itself feels completely different.

I love the gang aspect, and the fact that this feels a little more on the detective/mystery side. I love that we get the POV from Gareth too, it makes it all the more interesting because while Elise is trying to find out what happened to him, his POV takes us back to the beginning and honestly, I am just loving the ride. Everyone seems suspicious, like potential suspects and it really just brings a more plot-centered feel to this series which ZA does not have.

I love Elise, I don't find her annoying or indecisive in an irritating way. I think her character was written in such a way that shows us her grief and her struggles navigating through life since her brother's death. As for the boys? I did not know that this book was reverse harem and I am in absolute heaven!!! Gabriel is the mysterious one, Ryder and Dante are the volatile rival gang leaders and Leon is just so everything I literally wanna cuddle him! Non-stop! I cannot believe how much I am enjoying this series (I'm actually almost finished with book 2 and there are no complaints at all). It gives The Bonds That Tie feels but at the same time, brings something deliciously different to the table and I am so here for it!

Thank you for the buddy read bestie, @the_bookbasket 🖤
