I never knew the god of wine was so messed up. I read this because The Bacchae was mentioned in The Secret History where students performed the ritual and I see now exactly how it lined up nicely. Truly a remarkable work by Euripides. Greek mythology will never fail to amaze me. This play was horrific and I loved every bit of it.
