This is not going to be popular. ( sigh) Don't hate me for not liking it much. I going to go negative Nancy first:
I don't know what happened. I really liked books 1-2. I was in the "stay up all night to finish one more page mode." Who could sleep when "that" was happening? This one I couldn't stay awake. It seemed to go on and on and on with me never getting closer to the end. I forced myself to squeeze time bits in here and there. Something was going very wrong and I wasn't enjoying this read. I didn't den read the prequel added at the end of the book. I just don't care and I hate reading backwards in a story.
Kat and Daemon, coupled up solid, just seemed very immature and quick to snark out at each other and the big bads at the most unbelievable moments. I rolled my eyes so many times. I think I might have Hulked up my eye muscles. The over used lines, comments and visual aids. The "I love you" no "I love you" oh "I love you so much" " I love you more than anything" Blech !!! Enough I get it you're in a love-fest stage all glassy eyed and horny. How many times do I need to hear about them and their little foil package ? Was it required to bring that up every time they started to get naked so we understood they we going to go "all the way" safely ? Let's talk about the need to talk about how they are not ready for a baby, oh yes how mature of them. They are so grown up thinking like that, but WT-heck did have to do with the story that it kept coming back up? I didn't buy them as a married mature couple and a young naive couple. It felt like a sex education guide for the teenybopper who may want her own Daemon to always have his foil wrapper handy. (I'm not against it, please cover yourself always.) It didn't fit, flow and work for me in the context of the story. There were life and death issues all around and closing fast, they needed to work on saving the world ! Friends, family, innocents all dying while they screw around, joking or lusting. One of my pet peeves realized in this last book.
I loved the side characters, Luc, Hunter, Archer and Lotho the leader of the Arum. Lotho was bat-arse nutty and a fantastic character. He stole the show with his hilarious comments and nasty little game. Dee was an abandoned character. She had some major events and they where just brushed over lightly. A huge missed opportunity in that. I hope she has more parts in another series. Nancy, while I hated her comic book character like feel, stayed true to her characters outline and finally got what she earned.
I am so happy to be finished. I am so disappointed in this ending I waited so long for. I still like the author just not this piece.
