Elevation by Stephen King

3.0

It was weird to see Trump's name in a piece of fiction, and his presidential campaign was explicitly mentioned at that. Perhaps it was to ground the novel (pun intended). This didn't affect how I felt about this book, it was just something that stood out to me.

King is definitely trying to say something with this book. I literally just finished reading it, I am still trying to unpack it, but this short book (extremely short by King's standards) has a message both in the text and the subtext. This is definitely an outlier for him. Not that I am trying to pigeonhole him to specific type or writing. I know that he has written in many different genres, but this book feels unlike anything of his I have ever read.

I liked it.
