Caraval by Stephanie Garber

5.0

Caraval has been on my TBR for a very long time; upon discovering some fanart, I've been enthusiastic to learn more about the series. Caraval was chosen by @friendswithbooks as the September Book of the Month, and in all honesty, I believe it's about time I finally read it. Caraval is a masterfully created novel that draws you in and makes you never want to leave its universe. I would most definitely suggest reading Caraval because it is a unique tale of mystery and love. I was completely engrossed in this fantastical universe where nothing is what it seems, thanks to Stephanie Garber's beautiful writing. Her characters are exquisitely rendered, and the plot hooked me right away. Although the romance is beautiful, what I loved most about the story was the bond between the two sisters. Caraval evolved from fascinating to captivating when the game progressed in so many unexpected directions. Just when you think you've got the story figured out, another layer of mystery and magic is revealed. The ending pulled my heart in so many directions, and I absolutely can't wait for the next book.

"Whatever you’ve heard about Caraval, it doesn’t compare to the reality. It’s more than just a game or a performance. It’s the closest you’ll ever find to magic in this world."
