The Gift by S.R. Jones

3.0

(this is a review of the entire series as a whole, since it doesn’t really read like 2 books with whole arcs, but rather one book in 2 parts)

I had picked up this series after spotting the characters in the Bratva Blood series and knowing right away that this pairing would be much more up my alley.

This was a fun read and I enjoyed the tropes, the steam and the possessiveness that never did verge on not-okay. Was it a masterpiece? No. Did I enjoy the occasional bad decision making of the female protagonist being an idiot as usual? No. But, at least unlike the Bratva Blood series, where it was the naive innocence of the protagonist that led to her idiocy, here there seemed to be a somewhat justified reason behind it and enough progress that it didn’t pull me out of the story nearly as much.
