The Nightingale and the Rose
by Oscar Wilde
Short story, but really tragic. It's really... interesting how Oscar Wilde perceives everything. They way he writes is conveyed so beautifully bitter.
Anyways, the story takes a quick turn like it starts out so nice and peaceful wow such nice frolicking birds and lizards and shit but then it gets dark SO quickly. Kind of like [b: The Happy Prince|79121|The Happy Prince|Oscar Wilde|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1387700803s/79121.jpg|244691], you think it is so nice at first but it is so sad. LITERAL. The way he ends all his stuff is so morbid like worst case scenario. SPOILER (even though it's like 4 pages lmao): "...and he threw the rose into the street, where it fell into the gutter, and a cart-wheel went over it." This nightingale just died over this red rose, SINGING AND PRESSING A THORN AGAINST ITSELF, for a flower and it just ends up being stomped on in the gutter. lmao ok Wilde. You did good.. you did good.
