The Truths We Hold: An American Journey
by Kamala Harris
I really do admire and respect Kamala Harris and even more so after reading this book. Her story is the story of a daughter of immigrants struggling to find her place in society and to make her way forward while having the odds stacked against her.
Here, Senator Harris talks about her past including decisions she made that weren't popular. She also talks about her future laying out plans that I'm sure she would implement were she to become President. She speaks about her present as a Senator and the ways in which she has stood up against the current administration and their policies.
This book was inspiring and angering all at the same time. Inspiring because it is hard not to find Senator Harris's life and ideas inspirational. Angering because she writes so eloquently and passionately about the atrocities being committed by this current administration. She lays it out there in stark and clear detail what is currently going on in our country and what she has been doing to be a part of the resistance.
I should probably disclose here that Harris is my number one candidate for President and has been for a long time. I got to see her speak at a rally in San Francisco just last weekend and it was one of the most inspiring moments of my life. She is President material and will be ready to lead on day one. And this book made that belief even clearer to me. However, putting my personal bias aside, I still really liked this book and would recommend it to anyone who wants to know more about Kamala the senator and Kamala the person.
