The Annotated Alice: The Definitive Edition by Martin Gardner, Lewis Carroll

3.0

I think that I’m beginning to learn that with classical texts especially, it’s a bit like marmite for me: I either love them, or I dislike them. There seems to be no form of in between. Sadly, with Alice, it was the latter. I did read through it pretty quickly so perhaps if I paced myself I would have had a better engagement with the text, but the repetitiveness of didacticism just threw me off, I think, alongside Alice’s character. I loved her when I was younger watching the movie but, in the books, a part of me just wanted to yell at her to pipe down! Haha.
