“San-Er is defined by its mess, by its confusions and its blur of people meshing and tangling with one another.”
Second time reading it and wow how did it get better????
I truly am always in awe of Chloe’s writing and how she makes it so atmospheric. You can truly feel the suffocation of San-Er and the twin cities. This is such a heartbreaking vile book. I can’t wait for Vilest Things!!
wow!!! that fucking ending? still reeling from it and waiting not so patiently for the next book. chloe has always been one of my favorite authors since tvd and her transition into adult books made me a little wary, don’t get me wrong, but this was fantastic!! the whole concept of jumping and the twin cities and royalty was all written so well and i loved every second of this.
it has multiple povs but not to where it’s confusing, just entertaining to know the secrets of ppl while the other characters are left in the dark. calla is by far my favorite ever but anton is a close second. yilas and chami are also my faves, they’re so cute!! august is ruthless and cruel and the pretentious crown prince everyone knows him to be. i have mixed feelings ab him, okay? kinda hate him but also feel bad for him. mao mao is the star of this book, i love him. hope we get to see more of him in the next one. i find it so funny that someone as scary as calla has a cuddly cat with attachment issues.
