As a prequel, Saint works perfectly. But how is that surprising? After all, this book is about the most mysterious and dangerous character of all Narrows: Saint. And his story is so ruthless and captivating as him.
Adrienne’s writing is so atmospheric and engaging, that is easy to lost ourselves in it. I love the way she makes us feel like we’re inside the story, it truly helps to feel more attached to the plot. And, talking about the plot, oh my, this is a little book but not a simple plot. I was not expecting that so many things would happen or some twists, neither some revelations. The plot was very well built, I didn’t feel something was off or needed to be better explained. Was exactly what I expected, actually.
Saint and Isolde are the stars on this one and is so funny to see some things from Fable in both of them. As their daughter, they’re two very complex characters, with dark pasts, dreams of their ones, that love intensely, are smart asses and have hearts of gold. Saint is truly the best character Adrienne has wrote, is so easy to see how this Saint would become the Saint in Fable. Or other characters that appeared in this book, for that matter. Her characters are so well developed that we can see their path with so much clarity.
This book is a really good complement to the duology and will probably became a comfy book for the future. Now we can wait that, maybe, would be another book in the Narrows… a girl can dream right?
