Lyla is a scientist, trying to make a mark on the industry and keep her job.
Nico is a wanna be actor.
They're not a great match for a couple, but they're together. When the offer comes to film The Perfect Couple, Nico jumps at it. Lyla reluctantly agrees and they find themselves heading to an island for a competition show.

Lyla has every intention of blowing it and going home early, but when the storm blows in things change fast. Lyla finds herself fighting for survival with someone that is clearly a sociopath or psychopath. Lyla is desperate to survive.

Ruth Ware rights a good thriller, but not really a mystery. I think people go in expecting a mystery, but are underwhelmed. It's a thriller there is no real mystery to the book.
