Class: A Memoir of Motherhood, Hunger, and Higher Education
by Stephanie Land
inspiring
reflective
sad
slow-paced
I listened to the Maid audiobook previously and felt pretty neutral about it, so I went ahead and listened to this one as well while I was working. I tried to listen without judgement but kept finding myself confused by the authors words and actions. I also thought this would be more of a continuation of her balancing motherhood, work, and school, but I think a lot of this book definitely leaned toward the story of her private life and adulthood. There were also some explicit scenes where I definitely felt like the author was experimenting with writing smut, which I have no problem with but definitely did not expect as it seemed to come out of nowhere and did not align with the writing in the rest of the memoir.
Graphic: Sexual content
