That Night by Chevy Stevens

Looking for a book that is a mixture of Orange is the New Black and Pretty Little Liars?

This book is half young adult/half adult. We read from the perspective of Toni who is accused of murdering her sister. She goes to jail as a teen, and spends 17 years in prison until she is released to restart her life. Now 34, she is trying to make sure she doesn't violate her parole, and just make ends meet. Her old boyfriend Ryan, also went to jail for the murder and is released, but they aren't supposed to be communicating. He is pretty sure he can set the record straight and clear their names, but its a risky move and can send them straight back to jail again.

I really enjoyed the parts of Toni being in prison. It really gave you an insight of how that shaped her, how much of a struggle it is to just stay alive and well, and really gave a glimpse of prison life. I also enjoyed some of the younger Toni chapters, of how she was bullied in school (I'm a huge fan of Pretty Little Liars), and it was so interesting to read about her parents as well.

Unfortunately, you aren't going to find many twists in this book. The evil/bad people are pretty much what you think they are, and I found this to be particularly lazy. If i could have been shocked my something, it probably would have brought my rating higher, because all in all, the story was enjoyable.
