Beautiful Savage by Susanne Valenti, Caroline Peckham
4.0

A great second installment in the Dark Empire Series!

Beautiful Savage is book two in the Dark Empire Series (I think this was renamed from The Boys of Sinners Bay). This series is technically not "complete," but this book can be read as a standalone within this series (NO CLIFFHANGERS GUYS). I will say though that this one is definitely darker than Beautiful Carnages, and TW that I think should be known are: kidnapping, physical and mental abuse, and attempted SA.

Beautiful Savage is about Nicoli and Winter. Nicoli has been living in the mountains for the past year and stumbles upon Winter, who has been held captive by a drug cartel type community not to far from Nicloi's cabin. From the moment Nicoli helps Winter, the connection is palpable. I loved watching them grow into each other, and watching Winter learn to trust again.

This book grabbed my attention faster than Beautiful Carange, however I would say this has 3 distinct parts. The first third of the book is Nicoli and Winter in the mountains, then the second third is them coming back to the "real world", and finally the last third is the reader learning about why Winter was captured and the resolution. The middle third was a little slow for me, but that is bc it was mushed between two very fast paced sections. However, despite that this was still a very good read!

I cannot wait for the sisters to dive back into this series sometime! I need more Frankie and Enzo!
