Brothers in Arms by Melissa Barker-Simpson

5.0

There's something about the great sense of camaraderie and banter between Barker-Simpson's characters that feels like hanging out with friends. I think it's this that always hooks me in, meaning I breeze through and finish the story in just a couple of sittings.

I really appreciate that though these books are set within a male-dominated world, there is always a presence of strong women - noteably Ellen and the gutsy Holly this time around.

I like that characters from other books in the series appear, but each story is able to stand on its own. There's intrigue, steamy romance, action, character development (particularly within Imogen's sensitive sub-plot) and solid writing. Plus, I'm a sucker for a good human/animal bond, like the one between Andrew and Blue. Once again, a thoroughly enjoyable read.
