I heard so many bad things about this book my standards were so low. But this turned out to be a really fantastic read. I loved the characters, or even hated some, and the story kept me engaged. I was aching to read more just to find out what happens. It’s been a while since a book has captivated me like that. Absolutely loved it. I felt the writing was solid, not as predictable as some people were saying, and overall the author did a really great job with this. A lot of the complaints I had seen weren’t even an issue- like the spice factor. It was nearly non-existent. Or the world building, we didn’t get an entire back history on the world but we got the feel for the world. I also feel like we will get way more in the following books, so the world building isn’t done. Personally it would have been dull if half the book was building up to the entire world and college, so I’m happy with what we had.
Graphic: Bullying, Sexual content, Violence, Toxic friendship
Minor: Cursing, Death, Murder
