Firekeeper's Daughter by Angeline Boulley
4.0

I'm not sure what I expected from this book, but it wasn't what I read.

I listened to the audiobook and think this was the right choice for me because it meant I got the correct pronunciations and, thus, a more authentic experience for the Anishinaabe part of Daunis' life. Isabella Star LaBlanc does a great hob with her natration.

I also appreciated Boulley speaking to the current and previous treatment of the Anishinaabe and how much the past colours their present. She also portrayed Daunis' experience of being part of two worlds well. I highly recommend it. I am looking forward to the next one featuring one of Daunis' nieces - Warrior girl unearthed.
