I do not like YA. Would have DNFed if not for book club. It was stylistically unremarkable and had plot holes galore (so... she wasn't pregnant?). I found the characters to be annoying tropes. It felt like the author wanted to cram as many political hotbutton issues as possible into as short a story as possible without considering for a moment making the characters realistic, interesting, or dynamic—especially the women. There could have been an interesting sci fi world to build out, but instead we spent time sexualizing a teen girl because she was a girl.

Also, no three year old can understand DnD. Come on.
