Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly (Updated Edition) by Anthony Bourdain

adventurous funny informative medium-paced

4.0

i have a complicated relationship with anthony bourdain. growing up and watching him on no reservations, i remember the excitement my Filipino family had when he did an episode on the Philippines. he had such a way of sharing others’ cultures, really showcasing the effect food had on communities and the people behind the dishes.
he’s like one of my tita’s bfs who were are all kind of iffy about but he’s a real fun time through his humor and storytelling. the parasociality of it all i guess. through reading this book ive discovered a lot about him from the text and online and have come to know him as a very nuanced individual.
i definitely trudged through half of third course and dessert, but determined to finish kitchen confidential, i feel really glad to have picked up this book. rip to chef tony
