After Let Leaves Lay Where They Fall, I became low key obsessed with the characters that Micah creates. I was really excited to read this next book in the Seasons Change series, and it did not disappoint. In fact, the obsession continues now! We meet up with Jamie and Nathan again as the group of men head to a cabin in the woods retreat.
Brendan is trying to move on with his life after leaving a terrible relationship behind. He is not really away or out of the marriage because his hopefully soon to be ex is keeping close tabs on him. The stalker behavior and harassment makes Brendan very on edge and uncomfortable. However, he needs to get away and have a fresh start and reset.
Matthew is flying in from Atlanta for the annual getaway, still recovering from the death of his Alex. (The love of his life.) Matthew has done his best but the scars and broken heart of losing Alex still remain.
Brendan and Matthew have an almost instant connection. They are drawn to one another and both are willing to pursue what they are feeling. In similar fashion to Let Leaves, there is some normalcy in the awkwardness at first. But the two are able to navigate it.
The weekend brings about a surprising twist and things may never be the same. But the HEA is still there. Hang on and hold tight!
The side characters (looking at you, Phoenix) and the way the men interact with one another is beautiful. They are a true family and love abounds. I really love the characters and stories Micah shares with us and I can't wait for more.
