The Loneliest Girl in the Universe gets off to a strong start, but gradually began to annoy me in a whole bunch of little and big ways. Both Romy and J were growing insufferable. On its own, that might been bearable but there were also multiple plot developments that I found implausible and cringy. I simply wasn’t enjoying the direction the story was going. At all.
I tried to gut this one out because I wanted to get to the resolution but I was beginning to hate the story. Checking reviews with spoilers confirms that quitting now is the right choice. I’m so relieved to not spend another minute on this one.
At least it was a library borrow and I’ve now cleared another book off my unread shelf
