This was not as advertised. The blurb is misleading.
I never met a JT book I didn’t like until this one. It started off really great and then fell flat about half way, by 75% it felt really disjointed.
I liked the characters, as always JT writes funny, feisty FMC’s but, Kayla by the 75% mark, was beginning to get annoying. I loved Aiden and I loved how they were together. That said, by half way I was beginning to get irritated that she didn’t just tell him her husband had died. The spicy scenes felt repetitive, three chase scenes is over kill but I’m not sure if that was a plot device.
Listen, I’ve read Perfect Strangers. I trust JT as far as I could throw her. I went into this with immense distrust. But this didn’t really shock me and I didn’t cry like I did with Perfect Strangers. The two books have a lot of similarities, I won’t say more because I don’t want to spoil either book.
I do like that the inspo for this came from Savage Hearts but I didn’t remember what Riley’s novel was about.
I feel kind of disappointed with this one.
