The Heart Principle
by Helen Hoang
Many people didn't like this novel as much as the previous ones in the series. It's true that a good part of it was heart-wrenching, an almost mirror image of what the author was going through at the time.
I thought it was just great. Of course, I can understand what readers think of Anna's behaviour, however, her mental frame is not the same as most people and putting a name on her condition allows her to move on to a better future. The love story ? So very lovely and heartwarming. The dynamic between family members ? Older/younger, parents/children, well if you know a little about Asian culture, this won't come as a shock. What might trouble readers is that this book is not a nice romance like the others two were, this one is darker and deeper - which is why I like it even more.
Helen Hoang will now be on auto-buy for me. Her author's note was deeply moving.
