this book started out a bit slow but in hindsight it was setting up the scene and characters before the war. I really appreciated seeing the characters develop bc at the beginning of the book I was really struggling reading about our main characters; but the events in the book cause them to change and I thought that was pretty realistic.
overall this read was really sad, tense and reflective and was a constant reminder that our world today isn’t much different than what it was in the 40s 😕
