Anne of the Island by L.M. Montgomery

I feel similarly to this one as I did Anne of Avonlea. It was nice, not amazing, and not as high in my regard as the first one, but I also didn't expect it to be. It was fine for what it wanted to be. I didn't dislike any particular part (except at one point there was a black servant who talked weirdly that just made me uncomfortable but it was only there for a hot second) but there were some boring chapters here and there. I do ship Anne and Gilbert a lot they have great chemistry though the way their relationship was executed here was just alright. Yeah I didn't care for the denial of feelings, him not talking to her, and the love triangle, but at the end I did get invested in it the way I get invested in most wholesome yearning.
Can I just say this book has weird pacing? Most slice-of-life do but I really don't understand how it was decided what parts of her life would happen in what order. It wasn't bad or anything, just weird. Like they spend a while on their first two years but their last is like only a little while? And you never actually meet any professor? Again, this isn't a compliant, I just found it peculiar. Is all slice-of-life like this or just this?
Loved all of Anne's friends! They're cute together and there should have been more :)
Anyway that's all I gotta say for now good series to read in the background while I'm stressed.
