Ice Planet Barbarians
by Ruby Dixon
Did I take a wrong turn? When did AO3 and fan fiction become best-selling erotic novels? Oh, right. Always, since the time of the dime store smut. Welcome to the new era, apparently. Instead of the roguish hunk being promiscuous with the fair maiden, the millennium short erotica now consists of alien abduction and immediately getting so intertwined with a native that you forget how biology works. I’d like off this planet, please. There were two things I liked about this. Firstly, I love science fiction and need more nerdy Star Wars references in my life. The second is that I did become a little invested in the lore of the symbiotes and how the barbarians arrived on that planet—lots of unanswered questions. The mystery of it all gets it to two stars. But I can accept not solving the puzzle if it means I never have to read another word of…whatever this was. But hey, if it floats your boat, listen to the audiobook and enjoy.
