Excellent, well written book about the horrors of Stalinist Russia and how people just disappeared from various regions.  This books centers on a group of people from Lithuania during WWII.  I have never really read any stories about this topic and the novel opens your eyes to how terrible people can be but also how caring people can be.  Recommend highly but it is a hard story to read.
