by William Faulkner
This is the book that made me love Faulkner. I had tried to read As I Lay Dying in high school and was so annoyed with it 100 pages in that I went out and bought the Clif notes (something I never did for any other of my Honors English classes). When I was faced once more with Faulkner in a college lit class, I had my doubts. But this time I came to an understanding with the book and absolutely loved his methods. Yes, you have to work at it to grasp where the voices are coming from and what they're talking about But the end result is amazing. This book is definitely in my Top 10 of all time.
