The Hellion's Waltz by Olivia Waite
4.0
Another very enjoyable entry in Feminine Pursuits. This was an interesting change from Waspish Widows, which I loved but felt a bit overlong; this one feels almost too short, with a lot of details hastily sketched or passed over "off-screen." I appreciate the obvious discipline, but I think there might be a happy medium between the two.
All of that said, Waite is still an f/f writer par excellence. Maddie and Sophie are both delightful characters with compelling arcs, and the chemistry between them is palpable. Both Lady's Guide and Waspish Widows are pretty slow burns; not so Hellion's Waltz, and wow that first kiss comes early and is HOT.
