Nick (Bull) and Veronica are both strong characters that refuse to depend on others. For Nick, he refuses help when he re-injures his shoulder and is a "bull" to those around him. Veronica has issues with her mother, is a counselor so she has a hard time letting others help her. She doesn't want to seem weak in others eyes and because of that has a hard time letting her little side out.
As with the entire series, this is another great book that the characters become close and help bring the best of each other out. For Bull, that is his caring Daddy side and for Veronica, that is her little side.
