The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot
3.0
I read this book for the 2024 PopSugar reading challenge category of "a book published 24 years ago (2000)" and while I've seen the movie several times, I'd never read the book. I'm guessing that the movie is maybe a combination of this one and the next book, because in this one, we don't actually make it to Genovia, like in the movie.
It has been a while since I've seen the movie, but I feel they did a decent job of adapting it to the book, with a few exceptions. Book Mia is blonde & Anne Hathaway was not. Her dad was actually in the book and I don't think he was in the movie. The biggest difference is that they set the movie in San Francisco, but the book was set in NYC--not understanding the change for that one. Overall, it was a cute book.
