WE RIP THE WORLD APART by Charlene Carr taught me so very much about life as a racialized woman that I could never understand through my own experience. It challenges so much of what we think we know, what we expect... topics like police violence, racial profiling, social justice, women's rights and bodily autonomy, generational trauma... these are all handled with care and thoughtfulness and without glossing anything over. It is at once heartbreakingly direct and beautifully nuanced.
This story is all about choices, consequences, and the devastation that happens when people keep silent. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
