The Ashfire King by Chelsea Abdullah
4.0
adventurous mysterious reflective tense medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Complicated
Diverse cast of characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: N/A

I enjoy this bird made of fire and threats revealing themselves. If you want to know more about either of these check out "The Ashfire King" by Chelsea Abdullah, book 2 in the Sandsea Trilogy.

Finding yourself underground in a city of jinn, the middle of a magical conflict, and separated from 50% of your group isnt the best way to start the book. But Loulie and Mazen have their wits, a magic dagger, and a shapeshifter indebted to their mysterious companion. Wrapped up in new issues that aren't her making what will she do when the chance to act presents itself?

Narrated by Nikki Massoud, Sean Rohani, and Rasha Zamamiri. Bringing equal parts wit and murderous intent to our different povs

Reasons to read:
-Grappling with worldviews given more context
-Some folks that really need to be stabbed
-A good bird
-Context for the reader about what's really going on
-Some stabbing

Cons:
-I forgot this was a trilogy and was confused why a couple of threads weren't wrapped up until the very end
