I Could Be Yours by Helena Hunting

Can a starry eyed believer in fairytale love and a grumpy guy with trust and abandonment issues find a way to overcome a past “ghosting” to find their happily ever after?

What I liked:
* Essie Lovelock: influencer, organized, brilliant, good friend, makeup artist on sets, kind, caring, maid of honor that wants everything to be perfect for Beatrix
* Nathan Stiles: engineer, designer of ice skate blade, brother, good friend, abandonment issues, protective, intelligent, guarded, best man for Tristan, his brother
* The back story of Nate ghosting Essie after a HS graduation kiss that impressed both of them
* The reference to characters from the Toronto Terrors hockey series by this author and a number of characters I hope will have books of their own
* The opposites attract, grumpy-sunshine, second chance romance tropes handled well in the story
* The chemistry between Essie and Nate even though communication and sharing of feelings wasn’t easy for them
* Essie’s big heart and willingness to be there for Nate when he needed her
* Wondering if Nate’s mother will show up later if Brody, younger brother, gets a book of his own
* The strong supportive friendships both characters had
* That both Nate’s and Essie’s family were there for them
* The competitiveness of Nate & Essie in the planning and preparation for the wedding of his brother to her best Friend
* The growth Nate made in dealing with his issues and the impact it had on his relationship with Essie
 * All of it really except…

What I didn’t like:
* Nate’s mother who abandoned her husband and her three sons causing long term emotional damage
* The pain Nate and his family experienced as a result of their abandonment and the impact it had on them
* Having to wait for the next book
