You Should See Me in a Crown by Leah Johnson

5.0

Such a wonderful, beautifully written book! The drama and magnitude of prom and high school always fascinates me as a non-American. All the feelings I had at that age where perfectly represented and I loved the friendships with their ups and downs. All these characters felt so real to me and Leah Johnson made me feel for all of them (except maybe Rachel Collins...).
The balance between keeping the story about Liz in front and centre but getting to know her friends and family as well was well done. I wanted to know more about Robbie, Quinn, Emme and Madame Simoné. And the respect for privacy towards characters, especially Emme was so real and important.
I would have loved to know more about Amanda, her family and life before moving to Campbell but I thoroughly enjoyed her oneliners and goofiness.
Now I can't wait for Leah Johnsons next book.
