Crookedstar's Promise by Erin Hunter
2.0
I liked the beginning and end. The middle was getting kind of boring. Especially how i don’t care for any of the characters except cookedstar. Everyone else was kind of boring. Though it was nice that it intwines with bluestar’s prophecy. So we got to see the story from cookedstar’s point of view. The book was very sad though and not the most fun to read.
I also liked seeing him at the farm and learn better ways to adapt. In the beginning it stinks how cookedstar was treated and how hard he had to work in order to be respected. His apprentice ceremony was pushed back because of his jaw having to heal but i don’t think that it needed to be that long. It was at least good that he wasn’t forced into being a medicine cat like most disabled characters.
I think Mapleshade being part of the story was very unnecessary. All she did was teach him battle moves and push him to not live his life. That includes pushing away love and focus on his clan. I feel like cookedjaw could have developed that perspective on his own because he already wanted to be leader and had to work three times as hard as everyone else.
