danaisreading 's review for:
State of Terror
by Louise Penny, Hillary Rodham Clinton
Started off slowly and took me a while to get into it, but once I did, I was in. I even stayed up late to finish the book!
Having read both Clinton's collaborative novels, I must say I would read another HRC/Penny book before another BC/Patterson. (That might be more on Patterson than any of the other authors.) Some of that is the writing style, but I also enjoyed reading a book with a SecState focus. I have been trying to think of other thrillers involving the Cabinet, and coming up empty. Usually the main character works in the CIA or the White House, so I found this refreshing as a viewpoint. I'm hoping there's more coming in the future from HRC/Penny and about the State Department, regardless of whether they involve Ellen Adams as a character or not.
I have never read one of Louise Penny's books before now, so some of the references to her long standing detective series went right over me until I read the Acknowledgments. I have moved the Gamache books higher up in my TBR, in order to rectify that mistake on my part.
