I thought this was going to be a lighthearted read about an impromptu Thelma and Louise style runaway road trip, but it ended up having so much more heart than that. There was a depth, vulnerability and sensitivity to this storyline that was really captivating.
84-year-old Louise finds herself in need of a caregiver after she breaks her hip. 22 year-old Tanner finds herself in need of a job after an injury at a frat party in college leads to her losing her soccer scholarship. Louise is not who Tanner initially thinks she is and in the middle of the night, Tanner is woken from her bed and asked to drive Louise on a getaway adventure to evade the police after what Tanner thinks is a jewel heist coming to light, 50 years later. There are so many sub plots in this one & I found myself alternating between laughing and having my heart warmed and the entire time I was genuinely curious about what happened next.
