this book . this book.

i picked this book up on a whim, and i finished it in one day. i technically have already read it, so this is a reread, but reading this book once again was like discovering it for the first time.

it is beautifully written, but not pretentious. it is easily accessible and easy to read, but is not so simple as to bore readers. having the narrator be death, it makes the book interesting and really hooks you from the beginning. it gives you another point of view and a look into one of the most significant parts of history from another perspective.

reading this book makes you lose track of time. i started reading the first chapter, and the next time i looked up, i was halfway through the book. i have been in a reading slump for months, but this book single-handedly dragged me out of it.

it’s so so so so good.
