EPIC. FANTASY. ROMANCE.

I really enjoyed how this was both Elyria’s story and Cedric’s story. This needed dual POV and that’s what we got. The trials in this were actually high stakes. Like I was gripping the edge of the book almost twitching.

This gave fae v. humans in a way that I have never read before but without creating too new of a world that it didn’t make sense.

The simpler naming of the powers and highlighting each character’s importance made these 457 pages so much more of a breeze.

There is no info dumping, which is so greatly appreciated! So grateful! Some of the world building and power structures were left out in the most intentional way…. and then the betrayals that kept coming at the end of the book will make you seethe. They’re about to TEAR THE WORLD DOWN in book 2 I feel it.

The romance is a true slow burn and barely highlighted in book one other than a few hints here and there. But it makes so much sense considering how much else they had going on like idk trying to survive. Cedric is my favorite softie MMC 🫶🏽 He felt everything and honestly I’m surprised he didn’t spend most of the book in tears. When she’s the one with the lustful POV 🤤 (given it’s only one 2 page chapter out of like 50, but still) GIRLS NEED LOVE TOO!!

Next up the ARC of book 2 which is out 11/11 (wishing for the most successful release day)! Read this now so you’re ready come November!!
