I really do love a good villain arc, and this novel served!!
I just really loved seeing into Snow's head for the first time, and all those little things Suzanne Collins added to make us understand why he hates Katniss that much!!
The first half of the novel was absolutely great, I really enjoyed it, the romance didn't feel forced in any way, and was thoroughly enjoyable.
However, the second half was a bit weaker, and Snow's character seemed a little bit forced and unnatural. It was almost too caricatural unfortunately. The references to the theory of social contract seemed a more than a little forced, and kind of plastered onto his character.
But the last couple of scenes were really great!

So, I would've given the book 4 stars (or more), but the second half really wasn't as great.
Still, would really recommend to anyone who enjoyed the Hunger Games! Not really the same pace, but a whole lot of enjoyable world-building, plus an anti-hero!
