The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston
2.0

To be honest I found the whole story bland. At certain times the current Iwan would elude to possible conflict that Lemon hadn’t experienced yet but nope there really wasn’t other than him having to wait 7 years. My main issue with this book is Clementine. I just didn’t like her. She was cold and rigid and a bit pompous. Even after getting to the root of her grief, I still didn’t like her as a person. The other issues were the questions it left unanswered. On top of her aunt telling Clementine about the random 7 year time slip, she also describes a book that writes itself, an alleyway that leads to the other side of the world and the seemingly immortal pigeons Mother and Fucker that live on her window sill. Also how did her aunt afford to buy an apartment on the upper east side and constantly travel every year after quitting acting and work after staring in 1 play? It didn’t sound as though she’d been famous prior and I didn’t think she’d make residuals from acting in a play 20-30 years prior? We never do find out about any of those. Another very annoying part, is when Clementine FINALLY does see her aunt from the past the chapter ends abruptly! I listened to Clementine redundantly go on and on about her aunt and how she wishes she could see her again and the author can’t even give a chapter about what happens? I found the other side characters to be nice but forgettable. I liked Iwan but he was also forgettable as far as romantic leads go.
