I'll admit, I found this book a bit of a drag to get through, and even a little of a disappointment.
Ever since the resolution of 'Foundation's Edge', I had been a bit disappointed that the Second Foundation storyline had - for most intents and purposes - been abandoned. Add to that the fact that we spent an entire second book with the same characters (where the first 3 books had been ripe with new characters and eras), it really felt like the story shifted in the greater premise of the third act of this story.
I also wasn't on favour of the ending being ambiguous; I wanted the effort I put into the story to have a worthy payoff, and I don't feel that this lived up to my expectations.
That said, the progress on the journey to find Earth and uncover its secret(s) was interesting enough to keep my attention. And I suspect the majority of my feelings on this book stem from what I feel is a divergence from the original plot of the overall story, so if that's not a thing you hold terribly important - keeping moving forward at a consistent pace with the timeline - then it may not bother you at all.
